A willing conspirator in the late seventies Cosmic Cowboy revolt that ushered in the mythical Outlaw era\, Hubbard was a catalyst in the cultural upheaval that led to the peaceful coexistence of Lone Star music enthusiasts who comprised each end of the social and political spectrum of that troubled time. In the stellar company of iconic colleagues like Willie Nelson\, Waylon Jennings\, Doug Sahm and Jerry Jeff Walker\, Ray Wylie Hubbard was an architect of the musical legacy that continues to inspire subsequent generations of up-and-coming Texas talent. \nYes\, Hubbard is a Texas singer-songwriter\, complete with the classic trifurcated handle\, fundamental chapter of the canon in his song catalog (“Redneck Mother”)\, and enough wild hairs in his past to qualify him as a legend. But along the way\, his attention began to leave matters extraneous to his art and soul by the wayside and focus on the beauty and potential to be found in the blank canvas of\, in his case\, the yet to be written and recorded song. The result has been one of the most satisfying musical and lyrical journeys to witness over the last two decades. In the years that followed he evolved into a writer of uncommonly honest portraits of life\, alternately mixing deep personal sagas with poignant character studies of those traveling on the dark side of the road. \n If one wanted to describe the sound of Ray Wylie Hubbard\, one could call it American music\, born from the time­ honored traditions of folk\, country\, and roots rock.

The fundraiser will start at 7 p.m. (with doors opening at 6 p.m.) April 4 at The Ector Theatre\, and it will feature comedian Lucas Bohn. \nThe fundraiser will benefit our annual campaign for the Odessa Family YMCA. Those funds will benefit our PreK-3 program\, which we have in partnership with the Ector County Independent School District\, youth sports scholarships\, and free community events held throughout the year\, including Healthy Kids Day. \nIn addition to the comedy show\, the Odessa Family YMCA will hold a silent auction with all proceeds going to our annual campaign. Current silent auction items include artwork from the Odessa Family YMCA Learning Centers\, Dallas Cowboys suite tickets\, Six Flag/Hurricane Harbor tickets and many more. We are accepting items for our silent auction. \nLucas Bohn has been seen on NBC’s “Bring the Funny” and CBS’ Coastal Comedy Live\, performing with comedy legends like Kevin Hart\, Jimmy Fallon and Dave Chappelle. His first comedy special\, “Too Cool for School\,” went viral with over 50 million views. \nCBS7 news anchor Jay Hendricks will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.

DESCRIPTION:With a refreshed lineup and newfound energy\, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band\, featuring founding members Jeff Hanna (lead vocals\, guitar) and Jimmie Fadden (drums\, harmonica\, vocals); Bob Carpenter (keys\, vocals)—a member of the band since 1979; Jim Photoglo (bass\, vocals); Jaime Hanna (guitar\, vocals); and Ross Holmes (fiddle\, harmonica\, vocals); remains one of the most accomplished bands in American roots music. The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band played their first gig in 1966 in Southern California as a jug band and by 1969 had become a cornerstone of the burgeoning country-rock community. Their career breakthrough came in 1970 with the release of the record Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy and the single “Mr. Bojangles\,” a folksy Top 10 pop hit that brought folk music to the national forefront. In 1972\, they released the first of three groundbreaking Will The Circle Be Unbroken records\, collaborating with many of the best bluegrass\, Country\, and folk artists in the world. In 1993\, Neal McCoy broke through with the back-to-back number 1 singles No Doubt About It and Wink from his platinum-certified album No Doubt About It. His commercial success continued into the late 1990s with two more platinum albums and a gold album\, as well as six more Top Ten hits. A seventh Top Ten hit\, Billy’s Got His Beer Goggles On\, came in 2005 from his self-released That’s Life. \nA new studio album\, XII\, arrived in 2012 Co Produced by Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert.
